Kitchen Notes Indulgent Brunch Buffet- Inside Nashville Omni Hotel

In a city that’s absolutely gaga over brunch it’s pretty surprising that there aren’t more places that offer Sunday brunch buffets. But as it turns out, Kitchen Notes $31.95 per person Sunday brunch buffet is one of downtown music city’s best-kept secrets. The restaurant prides itself on elevated spins on traditional Southern fare served in a bright, brick-lined space in the Omni Hotel. They were also voted “2016 Best Brunch in Nashville” by Nashville Lifestyles.

When we walked in, we were treated to quite the scene. A bar at the entrance with stations set up in the middle and around the room with gorgeous spreads: fresh fruits and cheese, beautiful salads, tons of chilled peel and eat shrimp, hot items like eggs, applewood smoked bacon, breakfast sausage,  and  cheese grits.  Cooks sliced smoked prime rib and made waffles and omelettes to order. There was also a huge display of breads, muffins, croissants and such and an impressive array of desserts.

In the formally set dining room, waiters took excellent care of us, offering nicely garnished Bloody Marys and Mimosas, or refills of coffee. So, the food, the food — how was the food?

The fresh fruits were lovely — luxurious slices of pineapple and ripe melons. Standard charcuterie meats and cheeses. Peel and eat shrimp were big and beautiful, served with cocktail sauce. The omelette was great! Cooked to order with pretty much any ingredient you can imagine.

The slices of very tender, smoked prime rib had terrific flavor and was served with onion jus and herb & pepper butter. The applewood bacon was good and grits extremely cheesy. But the biscuit bar blew me away with the wedding cake biscuit and jam. 

And for dessert? Super-sweet key lime tart with blueberries and chocolate limencello tart with raspberries, decent chocolate mixed nut cakes, very cute strawberry cakes, banana cake with pineapple coconut, banana pudding with honey graham and vanilla, and last but defiantly not least chocolate mousse trifle with coconut and raspberries. That was about all I could sample without bursting. I wish I would have started with dessert!!

Altogether everything was wonderful, some of it was over the top good, and it was certainly fun — and for $31.95 per person, it’s a terrific deal. Something to check out soon!
