Nearly two years since her last release, Nashville trailblazer, Sonia Leigh, will demonstrate once again her ability to stretch country music far beyond its limits with the upcoming release of “Jack Is Back.” The genre-bending single is set to be released to iTunes and digital streaming services this Friday, March 31st. Co-produced by Leigh with Anthony Olympia (Combustions Music), the single will give industry and fans alike a taste of the new sound that Leigh has been working on.
Leigh explains: “I have been writing diligently for the past two years and have continued to develop my own style and voice in music. I went through a pretty dark period and this record definitely reflects this… But we sometimes gotta go through the dark to find the light. This record is going to do what I have always aspired to do, be true to the song and blaze a new trail. I love growing, developing stylistically, taking chances, and experimenting with genres. I am not following a code or method.. I try to think along the lines of what would Beck do? So I do what I want.”
An emerging artist, Leigh has already demonstrated her prolific songwriting skills with the well-known Zac Brown Band hits “Sweet Annie” and “Goodbye In Her Eyes.” Her special brand of female-attitude and modern country has been seen alongside such well-known names as Eric Church, Blackberry Smoke, Loretta Lynn and Willie Nelson. From the roots-rock swagger of her first Top 45 single, “My Name is Money,” to her breezy summertime hit “Put It In Your Pocket,” she’s carving a unique path that winds in and out of country music. Her independent release “When We Are Alone” was featured in the hit television show Nashville and landed her a cameo. Recent recording sessions in Los Angeles and the U.K. with the Mysterious Rob The Man have found her branching out even further. Her upcoming full length release, slated for 2017, will continue to peel away the layers and reveal her evolution as an artist.
ABOUT SONIA: Sonia Leigh relocated to Nashville in 2012 from her longtime home of Atlanta, Georgia and quickly won over the hearts of audiences and industry alike with her gritty vocal delivery and bold, disarmingly honest approach to songwriting. Her Summer independent release, “Put It In Your Pocket,” debuted as a Highway Find on Sirius XM’s The Highway and climbed to the Top 20s on their Hot 45 Countdown. She has performed extensively worldwide as both a headliner and support act for such well-known names as Eric Church, Blackberry Smoke, Loretta Lynn, and Willie Nelson. Also an accomplished songwriter, she co-wrote the Zac Brown Band’s smash hits “Goodbye In Her Eyes” and “Sweet Annie.” More information & tour dates can be found at: www.SoniaLeigh.com
